The Beautiful State


Till 19th century, Tourism in Himachal Pradesh was restricted only to limited movement of pilgrims to few spiritual destination in around the hills. Only when the british established their chain of hill station did tourism receive recognition in the State. Tourism activity received a shot in the when British declared Shimla "The Summer Caapitl of India" in 1864. Post independence, more investment in the infrastructure sector led to openeing up of tourism in the State. However the biggest boost to tourism occured in the mid 80s and 90s.

Top Destination

The Himalayas are found in Himachal Pradesh. The Shivalik range and mid- Himalayas are found here. The highest peak is Reo Purgyil with a height of 6,816m in Kinnaur. Furthermore, there some reservoirs and rivers in Himachal Pradesh which are tourist hotspots due to water port activities, sacred importance to Hindus, bird watching and have health centres around them.
